One Platform, Multiple Form Factors: Emdoor Intel N5100 Rugged Terminal Series

From mobile data collection and factory HMI to vehicle computing and hazardous-area operations, different workflows require very different device form factors. Emdoor's Intel N5100 rugged terminal series brings a common computing platform across rugged handhelds, tablets, industrial PCs and vehicle-mounted computers, giving project teams more flexibility when standardizing hardware across multiple deployment scenarios.

N5100 Rugged Terminal Series

Built around the Intel Jasper Lake N5100 platform, the series balances Windows compatibility, low power consumption and industrial deployment flexibility. Instead of forcing every application into a single device type, Emdoor extends the same processor platform across multiple terminal categories for field, fixed and vehicle-based workflows.

One Intel N5100 Platform, Multiple Deployment Modes

The Intel N5100 is a quad-core, four-thread processor with a maximum burst frequency of up to 2.8GHz and a 6W TDP. Its low-power architecture makes it particularly suitable for compact mobile terminals and fanless industrial computing systems where stable performance and thermal efficiency are both important.

Intel N5100: Low Power, Stable Industrial Performance

Across Emdoor's N5100-based portfolio, the platform can be found in more than ten product configurations spanning rugged handhelds, rugged tablets, industrial PCs and panel PCs, and vehicle-mounted terminals.

01 · Rugged Handhelds
Compact Windows terminals such as the EM-I61J bring the N5100 platform to mobile data collection and enterprise field workflows.
02 · Rugged Tablets
Models including EM-I10J, EM-I16J, EM-I17J and EM-IS19J cover mobile inspection, data capture, retail, warehousing and field service.
03 · Industrial PCs
Panel PCs and embedded computers such as P10J, P15J, P17J, P18J, P21J and B10J extend the platform into HMI, automation and fixed industrial installations.
04 · Vehicle Computers
V80J and V10J provide N5100-based Windows computing for forklifts, logistics fleets and other vehicle-mounted applications.

Low Power Without Giving Up Everyday Industrial Performance

Industrial terminals often spend long hours running business software, collecting data, displaying dashboards or communicating with machines and backend systems. For these workloads, predictable power consumption and thermal behavior can be just as important as peak processing performance.

With its 6W TDP, the N5100 supports energy-efficient and, in selected fixed systems, fanless designs. Many current Emdoor configurations combine the processor with 8GB memory and 128GB storage, while memory and storage options vary by individual model.

Windows-based configurations can support common enterprise and industrial applications such as MES terminals, production dashboards, equipment management, mobile forms and data collection tools. Selected N5100 products are also available with Linux configurations for projects that require a different software environment.

Rugged Tablets for Mobile Industrial Workflows

Within the N5100 family, rugged tablets offer one of the broadest ranges of deployment options.

The EM-I16J rugged tablet combines a 10.1-inch display with Windows 11, RJ45, RS232, USB and optional barcode, NFC and fingerprint functions, making it suitable for industrial inspection and data-driven field operations.

The EM-I17J provides another 10.1-inch Windows option with IP65 protection, MIL-STD-810G durability and optional mobile data capture functions.

EM-IS19J: A Slimmer N5100 Option for Business Mobility

For retail, hospitality and mobile business workflows, the EM-IS19J takes a different approach. Its 12.7mm slim body combines Intel N5100 and Windows 11 with a 10.1-inch 700-nit FHD display, IP67 protection, 1.8m drop resistance, NFC, barcode scanning and wireless connectivity options.

Industrial Panel PCs and Embedded Computing

The same N5100 platform also extends into fixed industrial computing.

Emdoor provides N5100-based panel PCs in multiple display sizes, including 10.1-inch, 15.6-inch, 17-inch, 18.5-inch and 21.5-inch configurations. These systems are designed for applications such as industrial HMI, machine control, production monitoring and fixed workstation deployment.

For example, the P10J industrial panel PC uses the N5100 with Windows 11, industrial I/O and a front-panel IP65 design for compact HMI and automation environments.

Projects that do not require an integrated display can instead use the B10J embedded box PC, extending the same computing platform into embedded and edge computing installations.

Vehicle PCs for Forklifts, Fleets and Mobile Equipment

Vehicle-mounted environments introduce another set of requirements: vibration, vehicle power, outdoor visibility, wireless connectivity and peripheral integration.

The EM-V10J vehicle PC combines a 10.1-inch display and Intel N5100 with dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS and optional 4G. Depending on project configuration, interfaces can include Ethernet, serial connections, USB and CAN support.

For more compact installations, the EM-V80J provides an 8-inch N5100 vehicle-mounted platform for transportation, warehousing and logistics applications.

Specialized N5100 Terminals for Different Environments

Using the same processor platform does not mean every terminal has to be identical. One of the strengths of the N5100 family is the ability to combine a familiar software and computing platform with hardware designed for very different operating environments.

EM-I17J(EX): N5100 for Hazardous Worksites

The EM-I17J(EX) extends the N5100 platform into hazardous environments with ATEX Zone 2 / Zone 22 certification. It is designed for applications involving potentially explosive gas or dust environments, including oil and gas, chemical processing and selected industrial facilities.

Connectivity and Data Collection Built Around the Workflow

Connectivity requirements can differ significantly between a warehouse worker, a machine operator and a forklift driver. For that reason, interface and wireless specifications vary across the series rather than following one fixed configuration.

Depending on the model, available capabilities can include USB, RJ45 Ethernet, HDMI, RS232/RS485, CAN, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, GNSS, NFC, barcode scanning and fingerprint recognition.

This modular approach allows customers to choose the terminal around the workflow instead of paying for unnecessary interfaces or functions.

Built for Retail, Warehousing, Manufacturing and Field Operations

With mobile, fixed, embedded and vehicle-mounted form factors available, the N5100 series can support a wide range of enterprise and industrial workflows.

Typical applications include warehouse inventory and barcode workflows, manufacturing data collection, HMI and machine control, field inspection, retail operations, mobile service, vehicle tracking and fleet management.

Rather than selecting a completely different computing ecosystem for each project, customers can use the Intel N5100 platform across multiple hardware formats while choosing the display, protection level, interface set and accessories appropriate for each job.
